P28M, P92M, P90TM: Which curve to choose in 2026?
The complete guide to hockey stick curves — what the M really means, which playing style matches which curve, and the interactive tool to find yours.
What does the M on a hockey stick curve mean?
The M stands for Max Height — maximum blade height. The curve is identical to the standard version (P28, P92, P90), but the blade is approximately 3 to 5mm taller. This provides more contact surface with the puck for passes, face-offs, and board play. All LabSports Senior and Intermediate Pro All Black sticks are available in Max Height versions.
The 3 curves available at LabSports — explained
The Shooter
Toe curve, open face. The curve starts late in the blade. The M adds height for more contact surface.
Ideal for:
- Forwards who shoot often
- Sniper-style players
- One-timers and deflections
- Toe drags and quick dekes
The All-Rounder
Mid curve, slightly open face. The most versatile of all — good for passing AND shooting. The M improves control.
Ideal for:
- Most players
- Two-way forwards
- Players returning to hockey
- Those who don't know what to choose
The Hybrid
Combines the characteristics of P28 and P92 with a slightly taller blade. Perfect for versatile centers.
Ideal for:
- Centers
- Two-way forwards
- Players who want versatility
- Those who hesitate between P28 and P92
What is the difference between P28 and P28M on the ice?
The curve shape is identical. The P28M blade is taller and slightly heavier, with less rocker at the bottom so the blade stays flat on the ice. You gain contact surface for passes and board play. Some players find that the Max Height blade slightly slows down stickhandling in tight spaces — it's a trade-off that most players appreciate after a few practices.

What is the "M" on a LabSports stick — what blade height?
All LabSports Senior and Intermediate Pro All Black sticks use a Max Height blade — the same technology that pro stock players constantly request. The Max Height blade measures approximately 65mm in height versus the standard 60-62mm, with a blade bottom that stays flat on the ice thanks to less rocker at the heel and toe.
